Our flexible, collaborative approach ensures that—no matter the location—your project benefits from our artistic flair, technical know-how and historical insight.

“Remote working lets us share metalwork expertise more widely—fostering awareness, appreciation and understanding, and ultimately elevating the perception and value of crafted architectural ironwork.”
Bethan Griffiths

Our remote ironwork consultancy is built on strong communication. We work closely with on-site professionals—whether architects, managers or contractors—to integrate our expertise seamlessly into your project. This brings specialist knowledge to projects where ironwork insight may not otherwise be available.

  • Remote Design – Working from architectural plans and surveys, we create designs that align with your overall project vision and are enriched by specialist ironwork expertise.
  • Remote Conservation Guidance – Supporting on-site professionals through surveys and repairs—helping them notice what matters, report with clarity, and ensure best practice

Case studies:

Description: remote contextual consultancy for new hotel

Creating the right first impression was paramount for The Yeatman Hotel, a member of Relais & Châteaux known for its luxury. We provided remote design consultancy for the balustrading of the grand entrance staircase. Working from architectural drawings and the interior designer’s mood board, we developed a classically inspired repeating pattern occasionally punctuated by more intricate decorative panels—adding rhythm and visual focus to the overall arrangement. Brass accents added warmth and contrast to the black scheme. Our concepts, technical designs and specification supported tendering and procurement process.

Description: remote conservation guidance and reports

A cast iron spiral stair spanning three floors had suffered serious structural deterioration from prolonged water ingress. Working remotely, we provided expert guidance to ensure the restoration was carefully planned and aligned with best conservation practice. Collaborating with the appointed metalwork contractor, we supported them through the survey process, helped guide their assessments, and advised on methodology through online meetings. From their notes and photographs, we compiled a condition and restoration report, including repair options and specification for the works.

“The Ironwork Studio has done many designs for all three of our houses over 10 years, from central London to our Country houses in Hampshire and the South of France. I have a wide ranging experience of working with designers and like to be hands on. I found working with The Ironworks Studio a most exciting experience and they ensured that the design was very closely matched to what I wanted. Ending with a design that fulfilled my aspiration, the spirit of the place so that it belongs perfectly and blends in its environment as well as being perfectly matched with its practical use. I love every piece every time I look at them. I whole heartedly recommend working with the Ironworks Studio.”
