When asked to propose a design for this house The Ironwork Studio took inspiration from the dominating roof feature. The large lead panels, split regularly by the seams, were transformed into the strong base section with the divisions carried upwards until captured between the double top rails. To avoid the design becoming too austere we used joint detailing to combine visual and practical construction requirements. Made in genuine wrought iron with electro polished stainless steel highlights the gate design is different, but works equally well from both front & back. Inserting the stainless steel, however, required careful heat control during the hot riveting process to stop the stainless from discolouring.
